Position Summary:
Provide leadership and support to meet the Kansas City Public Schools’ (KCPS) goals to raise student achievement, close the achievement gap, and meet state and federal reporting guidelines.
Performance Responsibilities: The Research and Accountability Director will:
•Deliver accurate, meaningful data insights to district leadership, school staff, and the public to support transparency and informed decision-making
•Support and assist the Executive Director of Research & Accountability with training and presenting data to school-level and district level leadership
•Collaborate with KCPS administrators to ensure departmental functions align with district priorities and meet the needs of all students
•Design, implement, and evaluate ongoing professional development regarding the entry and accuracy of student data in Infinite Campus
•Oversee management of student core data to ensure timely and compliant submission of state-mandated reports
•Support the Assessment Coordinator in the administration of standardized assessments, including MAP/EOC, ACT, iREADY, KOF, Accuplacer, SAT, and any College & Career Ready assessments and common assessment or program-based testing
•Coordinate with the Assessment Coordinator, Curriculum & Instruction, and Instructional Technology teams to ensure standardized assessments and common assessments are included on the Assessment Calendar
•Serve on the KCPS Assessment team to support the development and continuous improvement of strategic plans and assessment calendar at the district, school, and departmental levels
•Ensure reliable data systems and processes are in place to provide critical information for school-level and district-level strategic planning and decision-making
•Oversee the collection and creation of district reports aligned with the Blueprint 2030 Plan, MSIP standards, and key performance indicators/goals
•Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with community partners, research/evaluation agencies, and parent organizations invested in student success
•Support the analysis of norm-referenced and performance assessment data to monitor student and school-level growth and inform instructional practices
•Direct the collection, verification, and analysis of district, school, and student performance data
•Evaluate all research requests submitted to KCPS, assessing their value, legal/ethical implications, and potential impact before approval for current KCPS staff
•Champion alignment of curriculum, instruction, assessments, and professional development across the district
•Provide targeted professional learning experiences focused on local, district- and state-selected assessments

To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Required Qualifications)
•Master’s Degree - Preferred
•Five (5) years of experience in research, evaluation, measurement and professional development in a school or district setting
•Experience in analyzing assessment data and problem-solving areas of concern related to the data
Experience in pulling data from Student Information System, Infinite Campus and state systems - MOSIS, Core Data, and Missouri Comprehensive Data System
