We are seeking an experienced and proactive Director of Human Resources to help us build the team and structure necessary for long-term success. Currently NANO is looking to hire up to 60 nuclear engineers and professional staff.
The Director of Human Resources will report to the executive mangement team and will oversee and lead all aspects of the company’s human capital strategy, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, compliance, employee engagement, and professional development. This individual will play a key role in building a positive, high-performance culture that aligns with our mission and values, while ensuring best-in-class workplace practices and legal compliance in a multi-state environment.
• Develop and execute a strategic hiring plan to support current and future workforce needs.
• Partner with department heads to write job descriptions, screen candidates, and coordinate interviews.
• Manage relationships with recruiters, job boards, and universities.
• Oversee accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll across all locations.
• Ensure all employment documentation (I-9s, W-4s, contracts, etc.) is properly maintained.
• Champion the company’s culture and values through programs, communications, and employee recognition.
• Develop and maintain policies that support an inclusive and respectful workplace.
• Organize team-building activities, internal communications, and cross-site collaboration efforts.
• Conduct regular employee engagement surveys and implement feedback mechanisms.
• Design and manage training programs, mentorship initiatives, and performance review cycles.
• Support career progression plans and succession planning for key roles.
• Encourage participation in industry certifications, conferences, and continued learning.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws (NY, IL, TN), OSHA, and nuclear industry-specific HR regulations.
• Maintain employee records in accordance with data protection laws.
• Serve as a liaison with legal counsel as needed for HR-related matters.
• Prepare HR metrics and reports for executive leadership.
• Oversee benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
• Coordinate with Finance for budgeting, compensation planning, and audit support.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s or HR certifications preferred).
• 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in an engineering, energy, or technology-driven environment.
• Experience working across multiple office locations and with hybrid/remote teams.
• Familiarity with payroll systems and HRIS platforms.
