As a Project Engineer at Lucianos Excavation, you will assume a pivotal and influential position within our organization, contributing to the comprehensive planning, adept support, and meticulous execution of our environmentally and maritime-focused construction undertakings. Your role will encompass multifaceted responsibilities, spanning the entire project lifecycle—from its inception and material procurement phase, through meticulous submittals and workplan formulation. You will exercise astute oversight over project timelines, employing vigilant project tracking methodologies. Integral to your role will be the unwavering commitment to upholding plan congruence, safety benchmarks, and rigorous adherence to environmental regulations.
· Conduct business with external vendors, contractors, and critical subcontractors to negotiate profitable contracts
· Secure any required licenses and permits from appropriate authorities to ensure construction is up to code
· Collaborate with clients, engineers, construction managers, and architects to determine the needed resources and scope of work, including necessary materials and expected labor required
· Plan and schedule the entire construction project, including construction operations and timelines to make sure project deadlines are met
· Manage general contractors and construction workers and give guidance as needed to ensure high-quality project performance
· Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in field aspects of construction processes
· Read and understand project documents (plans and specifications) in detail
· Verify accuracy of in-place quantities and daily production to complete daily reporting and tracking
· Assist with preparation of production reports and project cost reports, participate in project status meetings, and produce meeting minutes
· Monitor job site conditions, practices, and procedures for compliance with quality control as well as health and safety standards
· A deep understanding of construction techniques, materials, equipment, and methods is essential for successful project execution.
· The ability to plan, organize, and manage all project phases, from inception to completion, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management.
· Effective communication is vital for interacting with team members, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities. Clear communication ensures everyone is on the same page and helps prevent misunderstandings.
· Construction projects often encounter unexpected challenges. Engineers need to think critically, identify issues, and develop innovative solutions to keep the project on track.
· Construction projects involve numerous stakeholders. Being able to lead and motivate teams, delegate tasks, and collaborate with diverse professionals is crucial for project success.
· Prioritizing safety is non-negotiable. Engineers must be well-versed in safety regulations, conduct regular site inspections, and implement protocols to minimize risks to workers and the public.
· Familiarity with contract terms, negotiations, and legal aspects of construction contracts is essential for ensuring the project's financial and legal success.
· Accurate cost estimation and budgeting skills help prevent cost overruns and financial issues. Engineers must be able to analyze project requirements and allocate resources efficiently.
· Ensuring the final product meets quality standards requires attention to detail and continuous monitoring. Engineers need to implement quality control processes and rectify any deviations from the plan.
