GMA Construction Group is seeking a Project Accountant with a strong background in the construction industry. The ideal candidate shall have 3+ years of accounting experience. The Project Accountant is responsible for assisting the Director of Accounting with various accounting functions, primarily job cost & billing. This role communicates with the appropriate Project Managers to ensure the appropriate approvals have been received for all transactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Accounts Payable
•Processes vendor invoices & audits for sales tax exemptions
•Verifies PO invoicing against Procore budget; enters direct cost into Procore as needed
•Reviews/codes/processes monthly credit card statements
•Updates & maintains vendor database
•Monitors AP Aging report & contacts vendors to resolve any issues
•Maintains accounts payable files
•Monitors AP email account for new invoices/check requests/credit applications
Payroll
•Collects and reviews weekly timesheets
•Audits hours and wages; checks for accuracy and necessary approvals
•Enters weekly payrolls in QuickBooks upon approval from Director of Accounting
•Prepares weekly payroll allocations in ProCore
•Prepares Certified Payrolls for prevailing wage projects as needed
•Enters Certified Payrolls into LCP Tracker system when required
•Maintains strict confidentiality of employee payroll info
•Forwards all requests for payroll data/reports to Director of Accounting
Project Accounting
•Assist PM in preparing monthly owner billing
•Assemble & submit finalized billing package to Owner
•Review cost reports with PMs to identify cost/projection variances
•Enter sub invoices into QuickBooks; collect sub and supplier waivers
•Assist PM with collecting sub invoices, when requested
•Monitor subcontractor compliance (executed contracts, COs, COIs, CPs
•Manage subcontractor payment distribution
Requirements:
•Degree in Accounting or other business-related field
•At least five years of previous experience in construction industry
•An eye for detail, accuracy is imperative
•Good organizational and communication skills
•Able to prioritize and multi-task in fast paced environment
•Able to work well with others to meet Accounting department deadlines
•Must maintain ethical conduct and strict confidentiality
