The Commercial Solar Foreman will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to a commercial PV solar installation team and overseeing multiple commercial projects to ensure they are on track. A typical day is spent out on the job site overseeing and executing solar installations (Electrical or Mechanical), assisting in the installation of commercial systems, providing job instruction to each Solar Technician to ensure jobs are completed efficiently. The Solar Foreman is responsible for ensuring that the installation team members adhere to safety requirements and regulations and providing feedback to the Project Managers, Engineers, and Operations Managers. This candidate will have a vast working knowledge of current compliance codes and have experience installing PV systems in various applications. The ideal candidate will have both solar installation and electrical experience, possess strong organizational and communication skills, experience leading a team of installers, and be able to maintain a high work ethic.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Manage and execute commercial solar projects
•Read plans and blueprints and manage the installation from start to finish
•Be a point of contact for installations, schedules, and budget
•Engage in safety and progress inspections by company personnel and on-site subcontractors
•Answer calls and questions related to the job
•Analyze project requirements and perform to meet deadlines
•Ensure job site has all materials, tools, and equipment to perform job safely and efficiently
•Order materials, as needed, for job site
•Install and connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, outlets or other components and systems
•Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
•Communicate with the Project Manager, Operations Manager, or Project Coordinator about potential problems encountered during construction that would affect the schedule or require additional materials to be procured.
•Assemble, install, test, commission, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
•Use and ensure the proper safety equipment and practices for safe installation with California OSHA compliance and adherence to corporate safety requirements and regulations
•Participate in safety and operations meetings, attend weekly milestone meetings
•Provide consistent and positive customer service throughout installation
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Training and develop subordinate staff, including solar technicians
•Participates in performance evaluations and recommends salary adjustments for direct reports
•Take disciplinary action, as necessary
•Addresses complaints and resolves issues among team
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
•5-10 years’ experience in the Solar industry working commercial solar systems is required
•Proficient with computers, modern computer software, smart phone applications, and digital cameras
•Must be able to read and interpret blueprints drawings and specifications.
•Electrical experience required
•Clean conduit bending required
•Mechanical Installation experience required
•Working knowledge monitoring systems preferred
•Underground electrical runs and concrete pad experience preferred.
•EV installation and commissioning experience preferred.
•Working knowledge of BESS Battery systems preferred.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
•Able to climb ladders and stairs and comfortable working at heights.
•Able to work safely in job sites and warehouses
•Comfortable working outdoors in extreme weather (snow, heat, etc.)
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
•Bilingual – English and Spanish (Preferred)
•Excellent customer service skills
•Heavy equipment certifications (Telehandler, Boom lift, etc.) preferred
•Excellent organizational and time management skills
•Outstanding ability to manage, motivate teams
•Able to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
•Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
•Occasional travel outside of Southern California required
•Valid California driver's license
•Able to successfully complete a background check.
Pay: $42-52/hour
