Caster Operator - $23.90-$24.82/hr. + shift premium
Charge and operate electric induction melting and holding furnaces by performing the following duties.
Prepares and sets up caster to start casting process, e.g. change molds, position starter bars, and miscellaneous production maintenance tasks.
Operates shaker and feeder to charge melting furnaces.
Loads pre-weighed scrap metal into furnace using shaker.
Operates furnace control panel to regulate furnace heat to specified temperatures by watching color of metal thermocouple.
Observes the color and temperature of the metal and adjusts controls to maintain the specified temperature. Adjustments to spray rings are made as necessary.
Skims impurities from surface of metal using rake and/or mechanical deslagger.
Pours over melting furnaces into the holding furnace.
Removes test sample of molten metal from melting furnaces and send to lab.
Stamps furnace number of sample and identification on to sample.
Mixes molten metal with an air lance when required. Adds additional metal to furnace to comply with specifications.
Meets quality and productivity standards at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. In these areas, employees are required to wear battery-operated filtering helmets. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
8.5 hour shifts: Afternoon shift 2:30 pm-11:00pm; Midnight shift 10:30 pm-7:00am
