We are currently looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team and oversee all financial aspects related to our multifamily construction projects.
Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager (Multifamily Construction) will be responsible for managing all accounting functions related to multifamily construction projects. This includes overseeing financial reporting, project cost management, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within the construction industry, with a focus on multifamily development.
Key Responsibilities:
•Manage and oversee all accounting functions related to multifamily construction projects, including financial reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
•Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
•Develop and manage project budgets, track expenses, and provide financial analysis to project managers and senior leadership.
•Monitor cash flow and ensure that all project costs are accurately tracked and allocated.
•Oversee job cost tracking and manage construction project accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate billing.
•Work closely with project managers, estimating teams, and other departments to ensure proper financial management of all projects.
•Review subcontractor and vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with contract terms and proper documentation.
•Ensure that all financial records and documents are accurately maintained for audit and tax purposes.
•Provide financial guidance and support to project managers to assist in cost control and project profitability.
•Manage and train a team of accounting staff, ensuring high levels of performance and accuracy.
•Prepare and submit financial reports to senior management, including budget vs. actual reports and project profitability analysis.
•Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably multifamily construction.
•Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including job costing, financial reporting, and project budgeting.
•Proficient in construction accounting software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, or similar).
•Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
•Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
•Experience managing and mentoring an accounting team.
•Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations affecting construction accounting.
•Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, estimators, and other departments.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
•CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
